8º step: Prepare follcular units

While the surgeon and assistant are closing the donor area, a team of six surgical assistants begin to divide the donor area utilizing high precision microscopes. First the donor strip is cut transversely in slices of one follicular unit in width, called slivers. In a second session, these slivers are divided, separating individually the follicular units, of 1, 2, and 3 hairs each. As the donor source is limited, great care is taken so that no root is damaged during this process.
